Monday’s Concerts
Well done to all SUPers who were able to make it on Monday. We had 2 very successful Concerts with lots of people joining in and thoroughly enjoying the musical adventure we took them on. Judy commented to me:
“I thought today went really well. Both concerts had a very receptive audience.
I particularly enjoyed ARCARE though. I love the way the staff always get involved there – I know it lifts our spirits as well. We certainly had a full house today – there was standing room only. I spoke with one gentleman at the end of the concert. He and his wife were siting right up the back, in the middle. They looked quite “loved up” actually. He told me that they both really enjoyed the concert. He went on to say that his wife had been in a shell for quite a few weeks, and he was so happy to see a spark in her today as she gigged along with the songs. He said she really came to life – and he thanked us for that. He seemed so grateful. How lucky are we to be able to bring joy to others.”
At the end of the ArCare Concert we had a lady inform me that “today is my 78th wedding anniversary. I am 98 years old. You played Streets of London. It was mine and my husband’s favourite song…and you played it here today on our anniversary”.
We had a “young man” with a walking frame who, whenever we started a song he loved, he got up and danced with the frame. Thanks to Keith’s great musical selections, he was up quite a few times!
Playing for these places is a privilege for us all. Please continue to make them a priority. You get back more than you give.
On another note, our Probus commitment is fast approaching. I think we need to place a higher priority on this performance, and I am therefore adjusting our Calendar so we can perform each song we finally choose to a high degree.
SUPers T Shirts
A reminder for all those who would like to order another SUPers T Shirt, or order one for the first time.
Firstly, shirts CANNOT be ordered singularly. GAME will only prepare our shirts in batches of 5. Secondly, it may take 6-8 weeks before an ordered shirt is ready.
Hence, if you wish to be part of our performing group (and why wouldn’t you?) you will need to order a shirt asap. Only those with our performing uniform may join us for Retirement Home Concerts, Probus, Play In The Park etc. They cost $42 and you should discuss your orders with Sharon.
